Wow, now that's a lever! But how true is it?
Obviously Archimedes was speaking figuratively since there's no place to stand unless you're on the moon, and no fulcrum under the earth. Nevertheless, Archimedes paints a clear image - we get the idea but does anyone really believe it - because if he said it, he meant it.

Archimedes goes further than just his thought provoking slogans - he demonstrated and validated his inventions. Archimedes Law of the Lever and Archimedes Principle are so monumental words fail, if he was around today he could solve the energy puzzle.

We believe there are Archimedean's out there and we've found a few World Levers. The Archimedean World Lever must go to Mr James Kwok for his amazing Hidro+ invention. Archimedes inventions didn't require any fossil fuels, he used Natural Forces like gravity and buoyancy, he even used solar - soldiers shields focussed the suns rays igniting enemy ships. Each of us can directly benefit from Archimedes by molding his inventions to serve today's green needs.

Archimedes interest in naturally occurring forces becomes relevant today and pivotal in a carbon-social economy. For example, Archimedes may suggest it possible to bicycle for 10 minutes to power your fridge for 24 hours - a little work gets a little reward - not enough incentive? How about peddle for 30 minutes and make enough electricity to run your house for a day - starting to sound good - no more electricity bills, save the environment and keep fit all at the same time. That's 15 minutes each with your partner. Heck, get the dog to help too.

Archimedes says there's one thing you will need - you'll need a good "lever". The bicycle will need the the long arm of the Archimedes Law!

COMMON SENSE
It would seem with todays ever increasing energy bills, a little leverage applied to reducing the electricity bill would be appreciated by all - also common sense would suggest that an exercise routine is necessary to maintain muscle strength and fitness.

By drawing a connection between your work, muscles and energy - common sense dictates you can build muscle and reduce fat with an exercise machine that converts your work into electrical energy lowering your electricity bill, and reducing your carbon footprint.

The leverage needed for a human to make electricity, remembering: work = force x distance suggests a mechanical movement, which can be multiplied, which is the concept of a lever, to increase force, and increase work. Apparently Archimedes said give me a lever long enough and I will move the world which is the crux of the point. Archimedes points the way to multiply energy using Mechanical Advantage.
